First I want to say sorry if I haven't been to visit you, I am trying now to catch up...it may take a little time, but i am on my way xx
Be warned this is a long..ish post...lol
My friends wedding took place on Saturday and it went beautifully, we had a great day. We did however have one almost disastrous start to it. I made her Wedding cake as her gift from us, Her being almost 70 too they didn't want gifts but had a donation box for the local hospice.
Well the day started well..got the cake into the car,(she hadn't seen it and had no idea what she was getting) She had said a single square one would be fine!
I got everything in the car....but my left foot when the high wind blew the car door shut on it...OUCH!!!!!! We really thought it was broke, but all I wanted was the cake to be delivered 50 miles away. Hubby ran in found different sandals, as instantly it was 3sizes bigger and already going black!!!! Painkillers and a glass of water brought out to the car and off we went...to my hubby's cries of this is stupid you need the hospital...and my cries of Lee needs her cake...lol
Anyway painkillers all day did the trick..obviously not broken but a bit of a mess all the same.
Well now to crafty things...First a card I made and never got posted, It just one for my box.
I think the bright sunshine has made it look pink instead of white. I enjoyed making it as I fancied doing something CAS and just using some spellbinders.
Finally I will give you a peek at the cake I made, quite plain at her request...and I was more than happy as i gave up wedding cakes 9yrs ago and I was certainly rusty...lol
My flowers were not as bad as I expected though, certainly need to get some practice in though as its sadly neglected.
I hadn't added the bottom board hearts or shoe/string ribbons to boards at this point...
Lee brings me flowers for making her cake...awww!!!
her new hubby turned as the camera went off...drat
Sorry it was picture heavy...lol
Your card is beautiful and your cake turned out to be stunning! You would never know you hadn't done a cake in quite some time! Great work!

Those are sugar flowers Mau???? If they are you are talented beyond measure and I see nothing rusty in your technique. Gorgeousness! The card is lovely too. I keep going back and forth about buying those curvy border dies. You listen to our nurses and see about that foot. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteOh, Mau, what a roller coaster ride.
ReplyDeleteI think the bride looks young and lovely!
I think your cake is most impressive and so beautiful! I can't even imagine it being any better. You definitely have NOT lost your touch!
I think your card is also beautiful!! It actually reminds me of a wedding cake with that tiered sediment and the lovely flowing lace with a punctuation of flowers!
And then, thud, down I went from all that happy to feeling so bad for you about your poor foot! What a trooper you are! I don't think there is one of us who wouldn't have done the same thing, even if the foot was broken, and all of our husbands would have been yelling at us the whole time, LOL!
That is going to take quite a while to heal. I saw your latest photo as I came for a visit this morning. Eeeks. How are you at being a patient patient? I send you strength in that department!! Hugs, Darnell
So sorry about your boo boo, Mau! But...oh my word, that cake is GORGEOUS!!! I really AM impressed!! The card if perfect too!! Hugs. Pat
